Which path will you take? That
of Chivalry? Or Treachery?
After a seven year absence, the
SAMURAI SHODOWN series returns
in tip-top form! Along with a total
of 24 warriors-including four new
characters like Yoshitora Tokugawa
and Mina Majikina-this title boasts
new systems like the Sword Gauge
and Concentration One. So, en garde!
It's time to face the sword-fighting
epic SAMURAI SHODOWN V!!!
Blacker
than pitch, a deep darkness of
boundless nothingness.
It begins within this vortex.
A sinister presence quickens within
its womb.
Its pulsing beat becomes an invisible,
intangible wave drifting in the
darkness,
and at the end of its roaming it
reaches Japan....
The year is 1786.
A time known to subsequent generations
as the great famine of Tenmei.
Its vestiges still remain and the
starving regions show no sign of
relief.
In every region insurrection and
destruction break out, spurring
increasing ruin.
The people tormented by unprecedented
misfortune scrape by, knowing not
when it will all end. Today? Tomorrow?
The Shogunate's response to this
crisis was nowhere near effective.
Before his country, buried in heaps
of corpses and slowly dying away,
a noted general turns toward the
heavens and roars:
"Oh, listen to my country's lamentations...You!
You Tokugawa trolls, enemies of
my land-your folly ends here!
The time for action has come!
I, as a patriot, will reduce all
you Tokugawa traitors to ash!"
This general assuming this fated
role is named Gaoh Kyogoku Hinowanokami.
"Oh, brave warriors!
Follow your patriotic souls, you
true soldiers of courage!
From the North's Ezo to the South's
Ryukyu, come to me! Reveal your
true mettle!"
Was it the result
of Gaoh's aspirations, or mere
coincidence-?
Entrusting their souls to their
sword, devoting their lives to
the way of the warrior, 24 warriors
simultaneously clash in the turmoil
of battle.
What will they finally master in
the end?
The code of the samurai? Or the
way of Asura?
BASIC
COMMANDS
Push
the A button for light
attacks, B for medium
slashes, A + B for strong
slashes, C for kicks,
and D to meditate.
SYSTEM
[THE
SWORD GAUGE]
The Sword Gauge below the Life
Energy Gauge shows attack strength.
When it is low, the amount of damage
you give an opponent will be slight
even when you hit them, and when
you hit opponents with the Sword
Gauge at MAX, you can exact extensive
damage with a single blow. The
Sword Gauge falls when attacks
hit or miss, and subsequently rises
as time passes.
[THE RAGE GAUGE]
The Rage Gauge rises as you take
damage from attacks. When it hits
MAX, you can use Knocking-on-the-Sword
moves and try to turn things around
with a single blow.
[RAGE EXPLOSIONS]
Activating the "Rage Explosion"
enables the use of invincible attacks
that knock back enemy attacks even
as you take damage and the Sword
Gauge shoots up to MAX. This lets
you use Knocking-on-the-Sword Methods
of Mayhem to get out of tight spots.
[CONCENTRATION ONE]
"Concentration One" can be activated
when the Life Energy Gauge flashes
blue and lets you anticipate your
opponent's moves to aim for a one-blow
turnaround. The Rage Gauge disappears
when you use either the "Rage Explosion"
or "Concentration One." The Rage
Explosion can get out of a pinch
or you can turn the tide of battle
in your favor using Concentration
One-either option greatly changes
how you do battle.
