The
way of the sword is ineluctably
that of death.
Building a mound of corpses, letting
rivers of blood-
invincibility is but succeeding at survival.
This is the third "Samurai Shodown" title,
released in 1995. In this release, the
system and button settings were altered
extensively and characters could use
one of two sword types: "Treachery" or "Chivalry." Samurai
Shodown 3 also introduced a new system
that let players choose from three abilities-"Holy
Sword (Advanced Level)," "Power Sword
(Intermediate Level)," and "Honor Sword
(Beginner Level)"-to assign to their
character at the beginning of duels.
They
called him "The Demon." His real
name, Zankuro Minazuki. From
time immemorial he had indiscriminately
attacked villages, slaughtering
all who stood in his way.
Those who faced him shrieked their final
gasps and sank into eternity, enveloped
by a sea of blood.
No one alive could stop his evil deeds.
And then one day, it happened...
In a certain village, Zankuro failed
to kill a single infant.
Some insist the evil one was unable to
kill him-but why?
The truth remains a mystery.
But from then on, Zankuro marked all
those who carried a sword for slaughter.
Several years later....
Twelve samurai and swordsmen are spurred
to action by their own hopes and aspirations.
But all have a single objective: the
head of the dreaded "Demon." The head
of Zankuro Minazuki.

(when moving from left to right)
when unarmed to perform the "Sabre

[THE

As characters are hit during game

can also be increased by pressing
the A, B & C buttons simultaneously.
When the Rage Gauge reaches MAX,
all attack strength levels increase
for a fixed amount of time.
[VARIOUS
ITEMS]
As characters duel it out, recovery
items and danger items will randomly
drop from above.
(RECOVERY ITEMS)
Meat roasts from on high. Snatch
these to restore a fourth of your
life energy.
(DANGER ITEM)
That means bombs. They explode
a second after they fall. If a
player in a guard is caught in
the blast, it will break his defensive
stance and render him/her vulnerable
to attack.
