As if beckoned into action,
there were those who readied themselves

respective lands to contend with
The SAMURAI SHODOWN IV system adds such
elements as 14 types of combo slashes,
sneak attacks and suicides to its basic
system while offering such new elements
as time limits and rival characters to
computer battles. Exceeding the time
limit set for each player character in
computer battles turns your character
into his or her rival to defeat Amakusa
or Zankuro and leads you to a darker

play havoc with the world, a sinister
castle appears in the land of Shimabara.
The lord of that castle-Shiro Tokisada
Having previously been resurrected
from the realm of the dead, Amakusa
was supposed to have been slain
in the midst of his evil designs,
but now he returns to subjugate
the world of the living.
Having already engulfed the Shimabara
peninsula, this castle of evil
grows larger day by day.
People soon call it "Amakusa Castle"
and in their terror begin to revere
it, hoping this will save them.
But little did they know that this
act of desperation would only summon

Push the Start button three times.
Push the A or B buttons near discarded
weapons to retrieve them.
Pushing the A, B & C buttons
together during matches activates
the "Rage Explosion" in place of
the Rage Gauge. At this time players
can use one of two attacks: "Link
Slashes" or the "Fatal Flash."
But these can only be used once
during a match and deactivates
the Rage Gauge for the rest of

Push A, B & C buttons simultaneously
to make the Rage Gauge disappear
and call up the Explosion Gauge
in its place. (your character then
becomes temporarily invincible
and knocks opponents back for an
